This week, businesses all over the UK are celebrating achievements and thinking about progress towards being more responsible in the way they interact with people, communities and the planet as part of Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Week.
We are still a relatively small business, but we have big ambitions when it comes to operating responsibly. From the way we source our salmon and make our products; to the way we manage our team, support our community and work with local charities, we’re continually trying to think, plan and act in the best possible way.
We've already made big steps forward in reducing our environmental impact and are proud to have been recognised with a Silver Investors in the Environment Award last year. We know that packaging and plastic are a big issue for the environment so this year we’ve also launched an internal Eco Group to review our entire portfolio with a view to the introduction of new packaging solutions.
Getting rid of plastic from modern food packaging whilst maintaining quality and hygiene is tough but we’re optimistic. We hope that across all our products, we're soon going to be able to minimise non-recyclable plastic and maximise our use of sustainable materials, hopefully with new packaging solutions starting to appear later this year.
