Handmade poppies for Remembrance Day

21 Nov 2016

The BigFish Brand team have been busy making charity poppies for Remembrance Day.

Every year we take part in the two minutes silence on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, to remember those that fell, all those years ago.

We donate to The Royal British Legion, a fantastic charity raising money to support the families of the fallen heroes of the First and Second World Wars. This year, The Royal British Legion is asking people to Rethink Remembrance. Remembering not only the fallen heroes of the WWI and WWII, but the heroes of today's generation who have made sacrifices in the Armed Forces.

But this year, we wanted to do something a little different... So, we collaborated with the fantastic volunteers at A Good Yarn in Cleethorpes to knit and crochet our own poppies, selling them in our Factory Shop to raise money.  It was fun and also great to feel like we were putting a little more personal effort into our Remembrance this year.

  • “It was much more difficult than you'd expect, our efforts were outshone by the fabulous poppies made by the ladies at A Good Yarn, who were great at teaching us the basics but in the time it took each of us to make just one poppy, they'd created at least two!”
